SHOOTING RANGE RULES

1. ALL FIREARMS ARE TO REMAIN UNLOADED AND ON THE GUNRACK UNTIL IT IS TIME FOR THE SHOOTER TO COME TO THE LINE.

2. THE MUZZLES OF ALL FIREARMS ARE TO POINT DOWN RANGE AT ALL TIMES WITH THE SAFETY “ON” UNTIL READY TO SHOOT.

3. ONCE AT THE SHOOTING LINE, THE SHOOTER MAY PROCEED TO LOAD HIS/HER FIREARM.

4. ALL SHOOTERS, WHEN SHOOTING ROUND IS FINISHED, WILL PICK UP THEIR SPENT SHOTGUN SHELL CASINGS AND DISPOSE OF THEM IN THE SPENT CASINGS PAIL.

5. ANY PERSON, UNDER THE AGE OF 12 YEARS OLD, WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT WHEN PARTICIPATING OR SHOOTING AT THE RANGE.

6. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE ALLOWED ON THE RANGE DURING A SCHEDULED EVENT OR SHOOT.

7. FOLLOW THE RULES OF THE RANGE AND THE RANGE OFFICER.

8. USE THE RANGE OFTEN AND GOOD SHOOTING!

Unwritten Rules of the Club

(UNWRITTEN UNTIL NOW)

1) AS A PAID UP MEMBER OF THE CLUB, YOU ARE ENTITLED TO COME OUT TO THE RANGE AND USE IT AT ANY TIME. IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THOUGH, THAT WHENEVER WE SCHEDULE AN EVENT, IT IS CONSIDERED A FUNDRAISER. THE EVENT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, WHEREAS WE ASK A DONATION IN ORDER TO SHOOT. SHOULD YOU ATTEND THESE EVENTS, YOU ARE EXPECTED TO DONATE AS WELL! (usually $3.00 a round and we usually shoot 50/50-half to the top shooter, the other half to the club)

2) AS A MEMBER OF THE CLUB, YOU ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR THE APPEARANCE OF THE RANGE AFTER YOU HAVE FINISHED USING IT. SO BE SURE TO PICK UP YOUR TARGETS AND SPENT CARTRIDGES OR SHOTGUN SHELL CASINGS. WE DON’T EXPECT YOU TO PICK UP THE .22 CAL. SHELL CASINGS, BUT WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO SWEEP THEM OFF OF THE CEMENT.

3) PLEASE DO NOT AFFIX YOUR TARGETS TO THE POSTS. IT IS A PAINSTAKING JOB TO REPLACE THESE POSTS AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ALL SHOT UP! STAPLE OR TACK YOUR TARGETS TO THE FURRING STRIPS. IN CASE YOU FORGET YOUR TARGETS, THERE IS EXTRA CARDBOARD IN THE OLD OUTHOUSE BEHIND THE UTILITY SHED THAT IS THERE FOR YOU TO USE.

4) FOR CLOSER SHOOTING, USE THE PISTOL RANGE OR USE THE OLD POLITICAL SIGN WIRE FRAMES TO PUSH INTO THE GROUND AT A DISTANCE THAT YOU WANT TO SHOOT OR YOU MAY USE THE SMALL MOVABLE BENCH THAT IS OUT THERE.

5) DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, USE CEMENT BLOCKS OR OTHER MATERIALS TO SUPPORT YOUR TARGETS. BULLETS CAN RICOCHET OFF THE VERY HARD SURFACES MAKING IT VERY DANGEROUS. DO NOT USE BOTTLES OF ANY KIND EITHER.

6) REMEMBER, THAT AS A MEMBER, YOU ARE URGED TO ATTEND AT LEAST ONE MEETING, EVENT, PICNIC, OR CLEANUP DURING THE YEAR OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP.

7) SAFETY IS OUR MAIN GOAL. BE SURE TO USE EYE AND EAR PRO-TECTION WHEN SHOOTING AT THE RANGE AND ALWAYS POINT YOU FIREARM DOWNRANGE.

8) THE COMBINATION TO THE GATE IS CONFIDENTIAL. AS A MEMBER OF THE CLUB, YOU ARE EXPECTED TO KEEP IT THAT WAY. THERE ARE COPIES OF THE BY-LAWS IN THE CLUBHOUSE IF YOU WANT ONE.

Tentative 2012 schedule

Hunter Safety Classes: August 4th and 5th, Sept. 8th and 9th

Note a new state rule this year for hunter safety, Any student under 10 years old must be accompanied by a parent.

Gun Raffle/Picnic/Turkey Shoot: September 16th

Cleanup Weekend: May 19th and 20th

Sight In Days: Nov. 3rd and 4th, Nov. 10th and 11th.

CLUB MEETINGS: Second Wednesday of each month 7pm

Deer Season Range Closure: Nov. 11 thru Nov. 18th

Also, please note that membership renewals are coming due and the gate combination will be changed after new cards are sent out. Please make an effort not to shoot up the target hangers, especially the upright posts.
